My transformation worked, but the results weren't that solid, so I had to do transformation again for the 5th time. I am getting so much practice though and I'm learning to be more efficient during these experiments with time and getting equipment all set to go. Plus, I'd like to think that I'm more handy with pipets and lab equipment now.
I was in the lab for 3 hours straight, ate lunch at 2pm, and it was an altogether successful, albeit completely-labwork day. I got to play tennis with Jon, and as we walked out of the building, it starts raining. Just steady pattering of rain but we decide to go anyways. It does clear up and then get a little uncomfortably sunny and hot, but oh well. Tennis is not going well, partially because I don't have as much time to play as much as I did last year.
Didn't get to eat lunch with some people from my lab (I've been talking to more people lately, mostly during lunch where we have fun conversations), but it doesn't make me feel any less comfortable. I do know everyone and sure, we're all busy and running about doing our own experiments and sometimes we're too in our own world to acknowledge others, but hey, this is the scientific life, where we have friendly people, who get lost in their scientific pursuits. I suppose I am the same, and so I blend right in. I've learned that it's okay not to greet everyone, and it's okay to be too focused on my work.
